Qualifications and experience:

Ed qualified from Oxford Brookes University in 2017 with an MSc in Physiotherapy. He has since gained a wide variety of experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and elite sport.

Ed is trained in manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilisations and soft tissue massage which he adds to his treatment plans in conjunction with strength and conditioning to allow a patient to return to their favourite hobbies and activities. Ed has a particular interest in lower limb injuries including Knee and ankle pathologies as well as sporting injuries.

Passions:

Outside of Physio, Edward enjoys a variety of outdoor pursuits including making the most out of the New Forest. Ed particularly enjoys sports including golf, hockey, cricket and rock climbing.

Why did Edward become a Physiotherapist?

Through playing sport from a young age, Edward became a first hand expert in the many injuries that accompany competition. He developed an appreciation for the human body and the many ways injury can be overcome.

Amelie has been qualified since February 2022 with a sports massage therapist level 3 diploma. She is also currently studying a masters in chiropractic which gives her a deeper understanding about the body.

Having qualified in 1999 as a Personal Trainer & Sports Therapist Kev’s career followed his passion in Sports Therapy. Kev started working in semi-professional football with Christchurch FC and then after a season he moved to Bashley FC.

In 2003 Kev started working at AFC Bournemouth as Sports Therapist for the under 18’s. Over the following 10 years, Kev developed his skills and knowledge in injury rehabilitation, injury assessment, and injury prevention. Kev’s role also included cover for the reserve team and first team for pitch-side duties. In 2012 Kev moved into workplace massage therapy, further developing his skills in back pain, desk ergonomics and posture.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

Lucy is a Masters Graduate Physiotherapist and achieved the highest academic grade in her cohort, earning an award from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists in the process. Since graduating Lucy has worked in the NHS as a rotational physiotherapist and has a range of experiences from helping people take their first steps in intensive care to rehabbing sporting injuries. Prior to her Masters, Lucy studied a degree in Sports and Exercise Science and went on work for UK Sport. She has attended major competitions and knows the true demands of elite sport and competition. Lucy is a trained sports massage therapist and is also a Pilates matwork instructor and Yoga teacher. Lucy also offers dry needling (medical acupuncture) within her appointments. Lucy has a particular interest in lower limb injuries and clinical Pilates. PASSIONS: Outside of Physio, Lucy enjoys being outdoors and active. Lucy particularly enjoys horse riding, running, paddleboarding and Pilates.

She is currently training as a sophrologist and psychotherapist to enable her to establish a better balance between body and mind

Nikola has been qualified since May 2008. He fell in love with massage when he trained Water Polo and realised that massage helped him a lot in recovering from hard training.

Joonas Savolainen graduated from AECC in 2019 with 1st class honours. He also has a diploma in Sports Science and has practiced as a Massage Therapist.

Joonas joins Total Therapy after relocating from Telford where he worked within another private health clinic as a successful Chiropractor.

Prior to his arrival in the UK, Joonas had his own practice in Helsinki, Finland.

Joonas has a passion in treating both amateur and professional athletes to help them improve their athletic performance, and has had the pleasure of working with multiple high level athletes from a variety of sports including weightlifting, football, wrestling, and dancing. In order to get the best results with his patients Joonas prefers to use a combination of chiropractic, soft tissue therapies and therapeutic home exercises.

Emily is a trained Sports massage therapist and is also a Pilates matwork instructor which also includes the antenatal and postnatal cohorts.
